Blumers Root Beer
Blumers Root Beer, located in Monroe, Wisconsin, is one of five sodas bottled by Minhas Craft Brewery. The brewery was established in 1845, a full 31 years before Charles Hires even introduced Root Beer to the masses at the 1876 world’s fair. The brewery has endured the Great Depression, Prohibition, mob encounters, two major fires, and is the second oldest brewery in the United States. It also boasts the largest brewery memorabilia museum in the USA.
Minhas Craft Brewery was originally owned by a Mr. Bissinger, and was first known as the Monroe Brewery. Over the years the brewery has changed ownership 10 times. Sodas were introduced in the late 1980’s, and in 2006 the Minhas siblings—Ravinder and Manjit—purchased the brewery, changing the name, and maintaining ownership to this day. Any followers of the Canadian television show Dragon’s Den (Canadian equivalent to Shark Tank) will recognize Manjit as one of the “Dragon” investors.
