Wurst Root Beer
With more than 60 years of combined experience, owners, Mike & Lynette Sloan have dedicated their lives to producing and making world-class bratwurst and sausages.
Success for the Sloan’s has been sweet and long-lived. Mike’s career began at a young age at his parent’s meat processing business in Swiss, MO. This is where he perfected his skills and recipes, working his way to the president and operating manager of his family’s business, Swiss Meats & Sausage Company.
In June 2011, Mike & Lynette ventured out on their own; purchasing and old auto parts store in downtown, historic Hermann, MO. With the help of friends and contractors, they began renovating immediately and opened the doors to the Hermann Wurst Haus in only 75 days.
Over the course of Mike’s career he has won more than 400 national, state and regional awards for his hams, bacons, summer sausages, jerky, snack sticks and other German specialties. In 2016 Mike won Eastern Missouri’s Rural Small Business of the Year award. Lynette is the co-owner and retail manager at the Hermann Wurst Haus where she is responsible for running the store and the deli.
In 2014 Mike was prompted by his grandkids to produce a Wurst drink that they could enjoy with his sausages and bratwursts. He couldn’t say no to his grandkids so the Wurst sodas were soon created! They produce a cream soda, orange, grape, black cherry, and, of course, root beer which boasts a creamy vanilla flavor with hints of caramel and molasses.
Today Mike and Lynette are living and breathing their true passion, owning their own business where they are creating award-winning bratwurst and sausages and soda for everyone to enjoy.
